Theme:
After the First World War, Romania practically doubled its territory and population. Both the state administration and the Orthodox Church posed the problem of erecting suitable buildings for Greater Romania. At hand were neo-Romanian architecture, with its Brancove resource, but also Western architecture. The conference will explain how the twenties and thirties of the 20th century are crucial in concretizing a new way of responding, through architecture, to the national dilemma: how to be Latin and Byzantine at the same time.
