Radu Afrim (born in Beclean) is a creator with a distinct vision, the space he imagined is unmistakable, sensitive, prospective and introspective at the same time.
Three-time UNITER Award winner for directing. in 2008, he was awarded the Coup de Coeur de la Presse Prize at the Avignon Off Festival for the show "Mansarde à Paris / Les détours Cioran" based on a text by Matei Vişniec. In 2009, his show at the National Theater in Timișoara "M's disease", was invited for a series of ten performances at the Théâtre de l’Odéon Paris.
In 2017, Radu Afrim meets for the first time with the Craiova National Band and wonders with them such as "If we thought out loud" - a show loved by a large and diverse audience, after a play by the young Bosnian playwright Adnan Lugonić.
Cristina Rusiecki wrote a book about him and his creation: Radu Afrim. The tissues of fragility, Tracus Publishing House, 2012, 2016 (English version).
In 2016 Radu Afrim was decorated with the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of Knight, category D Performing Arts.
