SINGING SONGS
The premiere of Song of Songs will open the Poesis Theatre, a programme of the Marin Sorescu National Theatre Craiova and the Nottara Theatre Bucharest, initiated by actor Emil Boroghina and supported by the directors of the two theatres, lovers of the Theatre of Poetry: Marinela Țepuș, Alexandru Boureanu and Vlad Drăgulescu. It will take place on 25 September, 19.00, at the "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre Craiova, "Amza Pellea" hall.
The new recital by actor Emil Boroghina, Honorary Member of the "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre of Craiova, includes The Song of Songs, one of the greatest love poems of all time, followed by a selection of sonnets from the works of Dante, Petrarch, Michelangelo, Ronsard, Shakespeare and Eminescu, in a unique scenario, intended for the Theatre of Poetry and actor Emil Boroghina, about whom critic Georges Banu said: "In Emil Boroghina, what captivates is a cello-like sonority /.../: behind the verses we identify the subtly modulated discretion of a performer who exposes himself in all his humanity! The recital is also an emotional x-ray."
The launch of the new Poesis Theatre Programme is, at this moment, a unique approach in the Romanian theatre landscape; in Europe there have been several such theatres for a long time, such as Maison de la Poésie in Paris and the Poème Theatre in Brussels. The fusion of poetry with images and music, embodied by the presence of actors, creates a synthesis of the arts through the immediate, living language of theatre. Despite the pandemic, Poetry will save the world.
