You remember us
Claudiu Mihail - Father
Romanița Ionescu – Mother
Andrei Pleșa - Son
In a remote seaside house, lives a seemingly ordinary family - mother, father and their son Marty. But hidden in this home are painful pasts and memories. The action of the play takes us through time and memories, where the boundaries of reality become increasingly blurred.
You exist
Alex Calangiu - The Man
Vlad Udrescu - Teacher
A man lives a double life, overshadowed by a tragic event. The play follows the emotional conflicts of the characters as they struggle between guilt and despair, trying to find forgiveness and healing in the face of their own mistakes.
I forget
Raluca Păun – Mother
Ramona Drăgulescu - Daughter
A single mother is visited every day by her daughter from far away. On the verge of madness and despair, the mother is tormented by regret and remorse over her choices. In a world full of memories, the characters struggle to find solace and comfort through the power of memories.
"I would be a little hasty if I said that they are three shows in one (because I could just as well claim that they are), if Afrim had not incredibly sewn their narrative with one of the most beautiful red threads in the fascinating warp of the spectacular, which faithfully linked them and theatrically crosses the dramatic, the visual and the acoustic (as only a great creator knows how to do) through a new discovery, invested with a maximum of declamatory meanings: Andrei Pleșa. The childish laughter and the angelic voice that fills the interstitial of each sense organ silenced by the tragedies of the stories (excellent voice, I still have it in my eardrums three days after the second viewing of the show, acoustically crossed in my memory by the successful vocal processing of the same desperate call to understand loneliness between the sunrise with A-ha and the shaking off of illness with Depeche Mode), from one and the same great need for love of each of us, which has gained suddenly the candid face of this young actor, who naively plays the son in the first story and haunts us as a witness in the other two.” – Luciana Antohi, blog: I forget, you exist, he/she remembers: “THE TRILOGY OF MEMORY”. Conjugating the verbs of oblivion in Radu Afrim’s estuary of love.

"The Memory Trilogy marks Radu Afrim's debut in scenography (sets section). At 55 years old! The famous (it's an understatement) director (idem) proposes, together with Daniel Nae, a hallucinatory play space. The almost 140 spectators are distributed on stands distributed in three stands that form, on the stage of the Amza Pellea Hall, a horseshoe / a U. In the middle, a river with murky waters. To the left and right, earth, rocks, reeds, a few lamps with high legs, a miniature house, a guitar, a pick-up, a globe, a vinyl record, a soccer ball, a pair of keys, other objects. Some of them end up in the water, others are hidden / dug up from the dirt. In the heights, spotlights that, as the case may be, sweep, focus, offer privacy, reveal (lighting design: Radu Afrim and Ștefăniță Rezeanu). From the depths of the huge Craiova scene, waves of smoke arrive, at key moments, that encompass everything". "At the same time, "The Memory Trilogy" is acting taken to the ineffable, thanks to the fantastic seven Claudiu Mihail, Romaniţa Ionescu, Alex Calangiu, Vlad Udrescu, Raluca Păun, Ramona Drăgulescu, Mihai Andrei Pleșa. Under the director's coordination, the love sequences between the characters played by Vlad Udrescu and Alex Calangiu are the strongest seen on Romanian stages of the season, swinging effortlessly between laughter and tragedy without falling into ridicule. I risk comparing apples to oranges, but after recently seeing Vlad Udrescu in "dog with man. dog without man" and Alex Calangiu in "Liberty", I thought I had witnessed some personal peaks. In "The Memory Trilogy", together and separately, both of them easily surpassed them." - Horia Ghibutiu, "To see, to think, to remember", Journalist Blog, April 28, 2024
