The first edition of \"SpectActor Meetings\", season 2024-2025, is the occasion for the meeting of the public from Craiova with academician Alexandru Vlad Ciurea, scientific director at the \"Sanador\" Clinical Hospital in Bucharest. Mr. \u00a0Alexandru Vlad Ciurea will hold the conference BRAIN LONGEVITY \u2013 MYTH OR REALITY on Saturday, September 28, from 5:00 p.m. In the prologue of the conference, Mr. Ciurea will lecture on \"SECRETS OF NEUROANATOMY IN MICHELANGELO'S PAINTING FROM THE SISTINE CHAPEL\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Dr Alexandru Vladimir Ciurea<\/strong> has been active in the field of neurosurgery for over 56 years - clinical, operative, scientific, research and activity in the organizational field of the health system, with over 24,000 neurosurgical operations, half of which in the field of pediatric neurosurgery. Between 1999-2010, he was the head of the Neurosurgery Clinic at the \"Bagdasar-Arseni\" Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital, where he held the position of general director between 1999-2005. He is still active at the \"Sanador\" Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, where he is also Scientific Director since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout his prestigious career, he implemented and developed neurosurgery in the \"Elias\" University Emergency Hospital, the \"Grigore Alexandrescu\" Children's Emergency Clinical Hospital, but also in the country - the neurosurgery departments of the Bra\u0219ov, Oradea, Pite\u0219ti County Hospitals , R\u00e2mnicu V\u00e2lcea, Piatra Neam\u021b, Ploiesti, etc. He held the position of President of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery (1996-2006). He has an uninterrupted participation in European and international neurosurgical activities, being elected vice-president of the WFNS (World Society of Neurosurgery) in the period 2005-2009. Member, later president of the Nomination Committee, in the period 2009-2013, respectively 2013-2017, thanks to which Romanian neurosurgery has a recognition at European and world level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Alexandru Vlad Ciurea is on the editorial board of the most prestigious international neurosurgery journals (Neurosurgery, USA, World Neurosurgery, USA). He is an active publicist and opinion creator at the weekly newspaper \"Via\u021ba medica\", the magazine \"Politici de s\u0103n\u0103toare\" and the daily \"Rom\u00e2nia Liber\u0103\". In recognition of his activity, he was elected a member of several domestic and international Academies: Academy of Medical Sciences (2009; Titular Member of the New York Academy of Medical Sciences, Founding Member of the Multidisciplinary Academy of Neurotraumatology (2004); Titular Member of of the Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery (2007). He was elected Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy (2022). He holds 10 titles of Dr. Honoris Causa in various universities in the country, as well as at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Testimitianu (Republic of Moldova). He was decorated with the National Order - Faithful Service, in the rank of \"Commander\", offered by the President of Romania (2000), and in November 2019, decorated with the National Order of the Romanian Star in the rank of \"Knight\", offered by the Presidency of Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ciurea has produced 40 monographs, as the main author, of which 27 monographs in the field of neurosurgery, 5 monographs in Health Management and 3 in the much-discussed field of E toxicity and in the scientific field. Thus, he coordinated the publication of the Treatise on Neurosurgery, Medical Publishing House, in two volumes, published in 2010 and 2011, respectively, of some important works in national neurosurgery: Pediatric Neurosurgical Pathology, together with Arseni C. Horvath, RSR Academy Publishing House, Bucharest, 1980 \u2013 The \"Gheorghe Marinescu\" award granted by the Romanian Academy. During 2024, the book titled \"Neural Frontiers\" appeared (coordinator at MDPI Publishing). The work \"Neurodegenerative diseases\" appeared in 2024 at the Publishing House of the Romanian Academy, on which he collaborated with renowned specialists. Abroad, he manages an exceptional work at the Flax NOVA Publishing House, New York, published in English, together with Dr. \u0218tefan Iencean - \"Intracranial Hypertension\" (2009).
