CALL FOR REGISTRATION – WORKSHOP STORM

STORM – Shakespearean Theater for Outlasting Resilience in Mental Health
 Co-financed by the European Union | Partner: "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre in Craiova

1. Purpose and objectives of the call

As part of the international project STORM – Shakespearean Theatre for Outlasting Resilience in Mental Health, co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program, Theatre National "Marin Sorescu" from Craiova, in partnership with cultural organizations from Germany (fringe ensemble) and Italy (Teatro Stabile del Veneto Carlo Goldoni, Fondazione Fitzcarraldo) launches a call for applications for participation in an international artistic workshop dedicated to young people between the ages of 18 and 25.

The STORM project explores the role of theatre and the arts in supporting the mental health of young people, promoting emotional expression, co-creation and intercultural dialogue, in a context marked by social and personal transformations. The activities will have as a starting point Shakespeare's work, reinterpreted in a contemporary key, through the perspectives and experiences of the participants.

The call is addressed to young people interested in actively getting involved in a collective artistic process, expressing their emotions through theater and participating in the development of an international co-production, which will be publicly presented in Romania, Germany and Italy.

The selected participants will take part in an international artistic workshop, which will take place in Craiova, in English, coordinated by a team of artists with international experience:

• Annika Ley – scenographer (Germany)
• Marta Dalla Via – playwright (Italy)
• Ovidiu Cârstea and Victoraș Matei – actors (Romania)
  
  

The workshop will last for 6 days and will include sessions of creative work, improvisation, personal exploration through theater, and collaborative development of an artistic concept.

2. Eligibility

The STORM workshop is open to young people aged 18-25, interested in theatre, performing arts and mental health issues, regardless of their level of professional experience in the field. No formal artistic background is required, but rather an openness to a collaborative creative process and a desire to actively contribute to the development of a collective production.

30 participants will be selected, based on motivation, availability and balance of group diversity. The workshop will be held in English, and participants must have a minimum conversational level (B1/B2), sufficient to understand and communicate during the working sessions.

Participation for the entire duration of the workshop is mandatory. An absence of a maximum of one day is accepted. Participants must be fully available for the duration of the workshop, according to the announced calendar.

The selection will aim to form a group that is as representative and inclusive as possible, encouraging the involvement of young people who come from diverse socio-cultural contexts, belong to marginalized communities (ethnic, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, people who have encountered barriers in accessing art and education), and are motivated to explore themes such as diversity, identity, mental health or social inclusion through artistic means.

People who cannot physically attend the workshop in Craiova are not eligible..

3. Registration and selection process

To participate in the STORM workshop, candidates must complete the application form by August 15, 2025, 11:59 PM. Registration is done exclusively through the dedicated online form: https://forms.gle/9dedWne3u4c3yFHd6. Other ways of submitting the application will not be considered.

The form will contain:

• A brief personal presentation, including relevant experience (if any) and motivation for participation;
  
  
• Information regarding availability during the workshop;
  
  
• A section related to interest in the project topic and expectations related to participation.
  
  

All applications will be evaluated by a selection committee made up of members of the STORM project team. The final selection will focus on both the quality of the responses and the formation of a diverse, balanced and representative group.

The results of the selection will be announced on August 29, 2025, via email and on the organizers' official channels.

4. Data confidentiality

All personal data collected through the registration form will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and will be used exclusively for the purpose of selecting and organizing the STORM workshop. The information will not be shared with third parties outside the project team and direct partners involved in the implementation.
