Theatrical event: Molière 400

January 15, 2022 marked the 400th anniversary of his birth. Jean Baptiste Poquelin, mai bine cunoscut ca Molière, one of the classic French playwrights, and his celebration began at Versailles, a special place for the artist's artistic destiny, where he presented primate performances in triumph. Actor and leader of the theatre company called "L'Illustre Théâtre", patronised since 1665 by Louis XIV, nicknamed the Sun King. He wrote more than thirty comedies in verse and prose, and was the creator of farces-ballets and comedies-ballets, dramatic texts written especially for performance at the king's court. Molière's The Miser was the first play to be performed in Romania, in 1818, with a Romanian version signed by Ladislau Erdélyi, a Latin and French teacher, and performed by students from the College of St. Sava, Bucharest (text taken from the performance book of the National Theatre of Craiova).

 

Marin Sorescu National Theatre from Craiova, in partnership with the Department of Romance and Classical Languages, the Center for University Success (CRU) and the French Lecturer of the University of Craiova are organizing on October 15, 2022 a cultural event dedicated to the great playwright at the National in Bănie, according to the following schedule:

11.00-12.30 - Hall Ion D. Sîrbu: Molière's theater - critical approaches, readings, watching some sequences from the film Molière.

18.30 – Foyer: Exhibition of books and posters of Molière's works.

19.00 – Amza Pellea Hall –Premier of the show Avarul by Molière. The show opens the 2022/2023 season of the "Marin Sorescu" National Theater in Craiova. The text of the song was translated especially for this event by Vlad Russo, the direction is by Felix Alexa, the scenography belongs to Andrade Chiriac. With a cast that includes important actors of the Craiova theater, the actor Claudiu Bleonț plays the main role. On this occasion, the national team from Craiova records the 28th premiere in its 172-year history, of the work of the illustrious playwright.
