Since 2016, on 19 February, the "Constantin Brancusi" National Day is celebrated.
Born on 19 February 1876 in the village of Hobița (Peștișani commune) in Gorj county, Brâncuși graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Craiova in 1898 and, in 1902, from the National School of Fine Arts in Bucharest. In 1907 he exhibited his works for the first time at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and at the Salonne d'Automne in Paris, where he later settled and where he died on 16 March 1957...

The work of Constantin Brâncuși, considered one of the greatest sculptors of the twentieth century, will be honored on Friday, February 19, 2021, on the 145th anniversary of his birth by the National Theater "Marin Sorescu" in Craiova with a program dedicated to this important event.
