The show Danse Macabre! is presented within the CONNECT Contemporary Dance Festival, 3rd edition, produced by the Delazero Association, with the support of the “Marin Sorescu” National Theatre Craiova and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN). The project does not necessarily represent the position of the National Cultural Fund Administration. The dance of death refers to the general idea that the movements of the stars, gods, spirits, and nature are also a dance.
Danse Macabre! it is an invitation to dance to this unknown beyond, creating connections with today's world through a mix of films, electronic music and light.
The silhouettes mirror and duplicate themselves, entering into their own image and becoming not only performers, but also materializations of movement on stage.
By including a film as the third element of the stage construction, the show pursues an experience based on the continuous change of the viewer's perception, exploring the dark matter of the imagination.
To imagine means to create internal images, without fixed rules, and to connect them together to access fantasies or stories that exist within us and not in reality.
Some of the visual materials were conceived together with the artist Roberto Fassone, creating through texts another entity, which reflects together with the audience on the concept of the afterlife. The dance manifests itself in changing forms, trying to free itself from the violence of representation, oscillating between different poles, making the invisible visible in a hyper-conscious tension between life and death.
