The Dream

An acting class is preparing for the exam performance "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The school is full of rumors, rehearsals of revelations and nights of anxiety. The boundaries between theater and life, between school and personal life, between normal and abnormal merge and disappear.

The show was created as part of the "Safety Zone" project, which researches the abuse of power that can occur in the university environment, especially in faculties with an artistic profile.

Seemingly counterintuitive, the idea of ​​creating a musical on the subject of sexual abuse and harassment in vocational schools in Romania proves to be more than inspired on several levels. First, it subtly ironizes the recent obsession of Romanian theater with musicals, as a commercial tool to attract ever fewer spectators. Then, more profoundly, it is the best way to use an easily identifiable genre of show to illustrate the artistic plan, clearly differentiated in the show from the human, intimate one, excellently represented through the “prose” moments

Oana Stoica, Scene 9

Unusual for an independent production, The Dream is a large creation, built in a small space, with 13 actors, 11 composers, choreography and musical training, whose (good) results are visible in the show, and with a set design that intelligently uses "civilian" elements of the stage, from the podium and bleachers to the costumes displayed in plain sight (author Mihai Păcurar). It might seem cramped, in terms of setting and theatrical architecture, but it is not, and the success is equally due to the creative team and the performers.

Spectacolul regizat de Dragoș Alexandru Mușoiu e un fel de ocheadă pe gaura cheii într-un mediu misterios și fascinant pentru neinițiați. Printr-un soi de cutumă inerțială a sistemului, studenții-actori își petrec zilele și nopțile în studiourile facultății, adesea desprinși cumva de realitate, intrând într-o logică a interacțiunilor și raporturilor de putere diferită față de cea „civilă”. Or, cum arată excelent montarea de la Reactor, asta nu doar că permite, ci și catalizează abuzul.
