Punk. Body Is Not Dead

Punk. Body Is Not Dead is a performance based on a choreographic research on the body and its mechanics in punk, carried out through a process of mapping this subculture in the local space. In Craiova, in the 90s, such a movement manifested itself that left traces in the cultural fabric and in the affective memory of the city. The theme of the performance is the punk body – a response movement, a movement of rebellion, liberation, empowerment, a movement that gives shape to the contradictions and angers, to the violent tensions that burst from the body and which are the immediate effect of repressed and dominated lives. The approach theoretically and choreographically analyzes the punk subculture scene, deconstructing the specific elements and reconstructing them through aesthetic means in a contemporary dance-theater performance.
