How does the life and work of a rural teacher unfold? What are the aspirations of teachers and where do they meet the needs of students? What is the relationship between the problems of the education system and the structural problems of society as a whole?
The show tells the story of five teachers at a middle school in a fictional commune in Romania. Five dedicated teachers who want to change the world from their desks. Through their experiences over the course of a school year, an x-ray of a community is built, with all the tensions and contradictions specific to the educational process in rural Romania in 2022.
The show, although fictional, is based on rigorous research, carried out over a year by the artistic team, through interviews, participatory theater workshops and informal discussions with various actors in the education system (teachers, students, principals, inspectors, union leaders, etc.).
Project carried out in partnership with the Constantin Hamangiu Association from Bârlad, within the "Perifeeria - Political Theater Platform 2021-2022" program, a program financed by the EEA Grants structural funds and by the Ministry of Culture.
