Mrs. Raluca Turcan, the Minister of Culture announces the signing of the documentation for the bidding of the D.A.L.I phase. (Documentation for the Approval of Intervention Works) of the design and the publication in SEAP today, August 3, 2023 by the Project Management Unit of the notice of participation for the contracting of these services estimated at a maximum value of 1.4 million net lei.
The investment in the objective of the "Marin Sorescu" National Theater Craiova is included in the Project LD 2097 (2021) on the rehabilitation of built heritage and cultural buildings, financed by the Government of Romania in partnership with the Development Bank of the Council of Europe and has a maximum allocation of 18 million euros net.
After the completion of the development and approval of the project at the D.A.L.I. phase, the Project Management Unit will initiate the procurement procedure of the design & built contract that will allow the development of the other design phases, as well as the execution of the works.
The theater building was built between 1968-1972 and is part of the series of three theaters that marked the evolution of both architecture and contemporary Romanian theatrical art - the National Theater in Bucharest, the State Theater in Târgu Mureș and the National Theater in Craiova.
In its 51 years of existence, the building has not benefited from conservation and enhancement works. Therefore, the investment that will take place starting this year is a necessary and long-awaited one.
