A quarterly publication, "SpectActor" isone of the few theatrical magazines that appear constantly in Romania - the longest-running publication published under the auspices of the Craiova National Theatre. Among the "ancestors" of the magazine, we mention "Revista Theatrelor", published at the theater in Craiova (1898), after its founder, the actor Ion Livescu, had moved it from Bucharest, "Proza" (1914), completely edited by the writer Emil Gârleanu, president of the Society of Romanian Writers, director of the National Craiovean, respectively the theatrical supplement of the show books edited by the writer and literary secretary Ion D. Sîrbu (1968).
The dialogical spirit of the magazine later coagulated the cultural event "SpectActor" cultural event, a cycle of conferences attended by over 60 cultural personalities from the country and abroad. The interviews given to the magazine by actors of the National Theater, Romanian directors, world theater personalities, appeared in the volume "The mirror of time - a contemporary history in interviews of the National Theater Craiova" (Ed. Autograf MJM, 2020, coordinator Nicolae Coande), within of the "SpectActor Magazine Library" collection. The most important theater chronicler of the magazine, Marius Dobrin collected his chronicles published here over a period of 15 years in the volume "Old and new prophecies about the theater. Chronicles of SpectActor" (Ed. Autograf MJM, 2020).
"... I nostalgically read a rara avis newspaper, which reminds me of a theatrical act that accompanies me in immortality: the show "Hamlet", staged by Tompa Gabor at the National Theater in Craiova, with Adrian Pintea in the main role. What times, what magic, what strength... The newspaper that reminded me of the chills I felt then, looking stunned at a story show, is called"SpectActor" and is edited by the theater that hosted that wonder . I'm talking about the most recent issue, from May-August 2011, and I'm doing it with all the joy of someone who discovers that there is a theater that loves itself and knows that the present and the past are two fundamental reasons to keep a newspaper. Here is a theater that does not leave behind a tradition to which it owes its sale, which, my dears, is no small thing. Here's a theater that doesn't back down from some expense to keep its face. And spending is a big deal these days. Here is a theater that does not back down from some hard work, that the newspaper is made first with hard work and then with expense, according to the budget, small»”. (Yorick magazine, no. 104/2011)
