Someone to watch over me

Synopsis

A young governess arrives at the Bly estate to look after two orphaned children – Miles and Flora. Alone, isolated, bound by a promise never to disturb her employer, she soon discovers that things are not what they seem.

Presences. Shadows. Gazes that persist beyond the edges.

As summer turns to autumn, the governess becomes convinced that something is haunting the children – or perhaps something already lives within them. But what does she really see? Ghosts from the past that refuse to leave? Or her own fears taking shape in the silence of the house?

Between innocence and corruption, between rescue and obsession, reality is falling apart thread by thread. Who needs protection? The ghost children? The ghosts of oblivion? Or the governess with her own mind?

Someone has to guard. But who guards the guard?

Iris Spiridon

Iris Spiridon is a theater director, film screenwriter and book author. She studied scenography at Nicolae Tonitza High School and theater directing at UNATC, with a bachelor's degree (2008), master's degree (2010) and doctorate (2013) in the class of Prof. Dr. Alexa Visarion.

He has staged shows in the country, including: “The Story of My Lost Characters” (Romanian Dramaturgs’ Theatre), “The Day the Sun Disappeared”, “The Land of the Enchanted Globe”, “Psycho” (Apollo 111, Bucharest), “The Story of the Bird Without a Nest” (Vasile Alecsandri Theatre, Iași), “The Secret Window” (Andrei Mureșanu Theatre, Sfântu Gheorghe), “Do you love me” – a romantic horror (National Theatre, Bucharest), “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (Point, Bucharest), “And baby makes seven” (German Theatre, Timișoara).

Co-writer for “Luna verde” (2010) and “Ana” (2014), directed by Alexa Visarion; she wrote the screenplay for the film “Un prinț și molăță” (2018, directed by Ana Lungu), in which she plays a leading role.

In 2021 he published the volume Virusiada Copiilor (Triade Publishing House, Timișoara), and in 2024 he published

the novel "As I Loved You" in the collection of Dan Sociu (Alchimica Publishing House, Bucharest).

He is currently in pre-production with his debut film "Kings 3-16:28", with whose script he obtained funding at the 2025 CNC competition.
