"Now, if I look back, I realize that if I had to start my life over, I would definitely choose acting. Did I say job? Well, I was wrong. Being an actor is not a job, it is a calling, a divine grace that you are born with. But by working hard, that's the only way you can polish your God-given talent, otherwise, you can get lost, with no way back. I think I'm not lost, since I go up quite often on this stage which is part of my life. I played more than 150 roles but not all of them brought me satisfaction, I won a few awards, I was decorated about three times, I played in about four films and that's about it. I don't know if I was the main actor, because there were great actors and those I played with were all equally important. The public loved me and still loves me, and for that I am not nostalgic."

"Being an actor is not a job, it is a calling, a divine grace with which you are born" (Interview conducted by Nicolae Coande - vol. "The mirror of time, a contemporary history in interviews: Ed. Autograf MJM Craiova, 2020)

"The actor Valeriu Dogaru manages to find the right measure of the face and vorbie of this interesting character, of his 'fatigue', imbued with a strange voluptuousness. The words discretely define the inner turmoil, the gesture is parsimonious, the attitude rediscovers the charm of simplicity".

Ion Parhon, The Need for God, "Scena", no. 6, October 1998
